Aghios Nikolaos

On the western coast of the middle finger of the Peloponnese, about 50 km south of Kalamata, lies the fishing village of Aghios Nikolaos. A beautiful coastal area with stunning sandy beaches: Kalogria near Stoupa about 5 km away, the fine sandy bay of Pantazi at the edge of the village, and the imposing Taygetos mountains in the background.

The picturesque village, with its small harbor, preserved old stone houses along the harbor quay, and charming taverns and cafés directly by the sea, has become a popular destination in recent years. It is an excellent starting point for hikes on the Taygetos, excursions to Kardamili, Trachila, Limeni, Areopolis, or to various attractions such as the Dirou caves and the charming, protected villages in the south of the peninsula – Vathia, Lagia, and Kita – with their architecturally characteristic Mani tower houses.

Just outside the village, in a quiet, idyllic setting right by the sea and surrounded by olive groves, is the holiday home Spiti-Eleonas, built in the traditional Mani style with regional stones. The Pantazi sandy beach and the village amenities – bakery, supermarket, and taverns – are within easy walking distance.
