The small town of Kyparissia has around 7,500 inhabitants and is the third largest town in Messenia after Kalamata and Messini. It is located on the south-western coast of the Peloponnese, on the slopes of Mount Aigaleo. The old town is picturesquely arranged along the hillside, while the newer part of Kyparissia stretches across the flat area down to the sea.
